This weekend we entered a new phase…..that of loosing teeth! Tyler lost his first tooth Sunday while eating a fruit roll-up (go figure). I was kind of caught off guard with the whole thing. I mean, I knew his tooth was loose, but we had not gotten anything ready for when it fell out. After talking with my friend Margie about the tooth fairies going rate, we decided that Ty should get the same thing his friend Perri did so when they talk they would find out they got the same thing. The whole idea is really cool to me!! So, we had made the decision to give him a $1 gold coin from the tooth fairy. Well, Sunday comes, he looses the tooth, and we have NO $1 gold coins!! What are we going to do?? My quit witted thinking……”Man, I sure hope the tooth fairy isn’t off on the weekends like your dad is”!! I was really impressed with coming up with that one just in case we couldn’t find the coin sometime that day. Well, it all worked out. Mark was able to stop by the Post Office and get a few…WHEW!! Here is a picture of “the missing tooth” and one of Ty putting his tooth into his tooth fairy pillow he got from Grandma Page. Oh, and just so you know, Ty was very excited to find a GOLD coin in his tooth fairy pillow this morning!! (Thanks Margie!!!!)

Okay, so the official word straight from Dr. Larson is “It looks like Tyler is going down the Mark path”. Tyler’s last eye exam before today was in November. At that time we was about -3 in both eyes. NOW, just 4 months later he is a little over -4 in both eyes. WOW! I know. But, I keep telling myself that it could be much worse; he could have something really wrong and if it’s just his eyes then I should be happy about that. So, he of course needs to get new lenses made which means he will be wearing his old glasses (with lenses that have a prescription from a year ago) until his other ones are ready. The one silver lining in this whole thing was that since his prescription changed so quickly the doctors office is going to cover the cost of the new lenses! Yeah!! Sure helps when you don’t have eye insurance. Any hoo, that is my Tyler news for the day.

This past weekend was great in so many ways. I was actual able to get a lot of “me” time; not something I get very much of, but something that I need! We started off Saturday by going to the NYS soccer meeting for BOTH Ty and Chayse. Yes, they will both be playing this coming season. Tyler is on the same team as last time and is very excited to back to playing with his teammates. Chayse is still on the edge. Some days she wants to play and other days she doesn’t. One good thing is she has her friend Morgan on the team who just lives two houses down from us. It will be interesting to see how the schedules play out….hopefully it will work out so we can see both play each week instead of both games being at the same time. Oh well, we have no control over that.
After that I was able to get away and go to my Dream Dinners session. This is the second month that I have gone and I am really enjoying it. I am usually able to get 12 dinners for the month, which really helps out on busy days. If you haven’t tried it yet, you should! The food is actually really good and Mark is even liking “most” of it. When he doesn’t like something I just make sure and not get it again….but the good thing is he is at least trying them.
THEN, I was able to sneak away with one of my friends to make the drive across town to the most amazing cupcake bakery I have ever been too! It’s call Retro Bakery. Kari and Brian opened the bakery just one month ago and their business has been booming…and I can see why. Their cupcakes are like little bits of heaven!! I especially love all the different types of cupcakes they have like “Cinnamon Toast”, “Caramel Corn”, and “Coffee & Donuts”. All taste exactly like what they are named after! I can’t even fathom how they do that!!?? If you are in Las Vegas or are ever in Las Vegas you have to check them out it will be totally worth it! Here is a picture….the one missing was “Mocha Java”. I couldn’t wait until I had my camera….I had to try one right away!

Don’t they look amazing? Anyway, the weekend continued to have great weather and on Sunday we just hung out and let the kids ride their bikes and play with their friends. Now, we are getting ready to head to the eye doctor to have Tyler’s eyes checked out again. I will keep you posted on what the doc says.

Tyler had his yearly check up the other day (I know it’s really late!). Anyway, one of the main things I wanted to take care of are all his necessary shots that he is going to need to start kindergarten this fall. I had him all prepared to get a shot when his pediatrician told us No Shots! I guess he is totally caught up with them until he is 11!! That just seems crazy to me, but Ty is all for it. I now have a print out of his complete shot record for his school application packet. Man, I still can’t believe that he will be starting school this fall!
Let’s see, what else did we find out……Tyler weighs 52 pounds and is 47 3/4 inches tall. The doctor says that he is well perportioned and that he seems very athletic. He has all the bruises on his legs from soccer to prove it! He can also hear to a whisper (when he wants too), but his eye sight…..man his eye sight is bad. Even with his glasses on he was only reading at 20/50! I am having Mark give Tyler’s eye doctor a call to see what is going on. He just got his new glasses in October and there is no way he should be seeing that bad! Given Mark’s sight history I am really worried about this. I know there are worse things that could happen to him, but I’m his mom….I’m suppose to worry about stuff like this! I guess we will just have to wait and see what his Optometrist has to say. I’ll keep you posted…..

Not too much has been happening around here this past week. Ty is missing soccer since we have a few weeks off before the next season starts and Chayse had a week off from dance class. Last week was pretty day to day busy for me since Mark was out of town on a business trip. Like always, something HAS to happen while he is gone. This time it was Chayse getting a UTI and not being able to control/stop herself when it was time to go. I think we had more accidents in two days then we have had in months! I have to say thank you to Jamie for helping me keep my sanity through this whole ordeal; I don’t know what I would have done without you!! Chayse is well on her way to recovery thanks to the antibiotics.
We all have colds/allergies that we are dealing with right now, but nothing to bad. I am inclined to think it’s allergies since everything is in bloom right now. The trees look so beautiful right now; I just love how Vegas looks in the spring time.
The only exciting thing to happen this past weekend was that we moved Chayse from her car-seat to her new booster seat. She is such a big girl now! She goes around talking about her “big girl seat” all the time. Very cute. Here she is:
Not to girly looking, but it has the pink flowers which are a must!
