Long time no post! When I started this blog I thought it would be so much easier for me to keep in touch with everyone on a more regular basis. I had the hardest time typing all these emails to each individual person saying the same thing over and over again. I would usually only get a few done and then stop; hence the main reason for this blog. Well, I am finding out I am just as bad about writing as I always was!!! Sorry! I will say I will try and get better, but please don’t hold me to that!
Okay, getting back to it. Let’s see….it has been what, like two weeks since I have posted. What has been going on these past two weeks? Well, my last post was right before Mother’s Day weekend. That Saturday was quite crazy. I had so many things to do I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to keep it straight. Let me see if I can recap the day….Chayse had her dance recital rehearsal at 10:00, Tyler had a birthday party to go to from 11:00 to 12:00 and then a soccer game at 12:30. PLUS, I was asked to make the birthday cake for the party. It was Connor’s 6th birthday and Lisa asked me to make him a Scooby Doo cake. I made the cake on Friday. Then Saturday morning I had to drop the cake and Ty off at Lisa’s house so Lisa could take Ty with her to the party, take Chayse to her rehearsal, then to the party, where we met up with Mark who had been at a conference that morning. We were there for only about 15 minutes and then had to leave to make it to Ty’s soccer game. By the time the game was over I was done! We grabbed some lunch with one of Ty’s team mates (Jake) and then Mark and the kids headed to Jake’s house to hang out and swim. I stayed home and caught up on my transcribing, watched some TV, and just chilled.
Mother’s Day was no relaxing day for me. I spend pretty much the whole day trying to finish painting Chayse’s bedroom. The good news is I finished it, but wow is it PINK! I still don’t think I am used to it, but Chayse loves it. I also want to thank Katie again for the most beautiful flowers she sent me for Mother’s Day!!
That next week Mark had to go out of town for work and wouldn’t you know it….the kids and I got sick. It ALWAYS happens! I should just start stocking the house with soup, Gatorade, crackers, etc. when Mark is getting ready to go out of town so I am ready! So, last week kind of sucked, but we are all good now. Actually, the timing could not have been better. We were better just in time for Chayse’s dance recital. I was so nerves, my stomach was all a mess, you would have thought I was the one in the show. She wanted nothing to do with the dance rehearsal, so I was SURE she was going to do the same thing at the show. But, I have to say she totally blew me away. She was GREAT!!! I am SO proud of her. She danced beautifully. She brought tears to my eyes! With that, I will leave you with a picture of my little girl!

Tyler is now enrolled in the Clark County School District full day kindergarten at Ries Elementary!! My little man is growing up and we are beginning the new journey of public school. We still do not know what teacher or track he will have yet, but he is at least enrolled. He got into the full day program, which here in Vegas cost $300 a month. Mark and I are not too happy about paying for “public” school, but we both feel it will be the best for Ty. He already goes to preschool 3 times a week from 9:00am to 3:30pm. We feel it would be a step backwards to have him go 5 days a week, but only half day, which is only 2 1/2 hours! I have heard good things about both teachers teaching full day, so I am not to worried. We will find out more information as the summer goes on, but we are ready!!!
I also have to gush about my husband today….after 8 years of marriage he is still so good to me….probably even better. Today is our 8 year wedding anniversary and he surprised me with breakfast in bed!!! Then for my gift (which is for both anniversary and mother’s day) he gave me an at&t Pantech Duo cell phone. I don’t have the actual phone yet, it’s on order, but in the picture it looks so cool! It has a full keyboard for easy texting. His main reason for getting it…..it will easier for me to text my sister and if she is moving away he knew I would want it even more! Gush, gush!! I love you Mark!!

Right after Easter Mark’s half sister Kayla and nephew Ryan came out to visit us during their Spring Break. Kayla is a freshman in collage and Ryan is a junior in high school. Both live in St. Louis and wanted to get away to Vegas Baby! We actually were not sure if they were even going to make it out. There was so much mix up in their flight schedules that they spent literally one entire day just trying to get out here! I personally would have given up, but they put up with flight after flight and 4 airports to get here. Man, to be young again!!
The first day they were here I stayed home for some much needed “alone” time, but Mark had taken the day off so he took Kayla, Ryan, Ty, and Chayse to the strip so Kayla and Ryan could ride some of the roller coasters. They were not able to go on Speed-the ride at the Sahara since it was closed, but they were able to go on The Roller Coaster at New York New York. Then, they went to ride the Big Shot at the Strastosphere. If you don’t live here that is the one on the very very top of the Stratosphere that shoots you straight up into the air. Here is the descriptions it gives…”Shoots you 160 ft. in the air at 45 miles per hour. It goes from a height of 921 ft. high platform up the tower’s mast to a height of 1,081 ft. and down again. You experience four ‘G’s of force on the way up and feel negative ‘G’s on the way down.” Okay, with that being explained not only did Kayla and Ryan ride this BUT TYLER DID TOO!!!!! What the *#&% was Mark thinking???? Tyler is 5! I still can’t believe he was actually tall enough to pass getting on this thing. All I can say is thank goodness I was not there because I would have literallypassed out. What is my baby thinking wanting to even ride a ride like that!? I mean, we went on the roller coasters at Disneyland, I’m okay with that. Nothing to over the top, at least the ones he was tall enough to ride at the time. But the Big Shot?? I think this is my first indication of what kind of kid he is really going to be. Now that he has been riding his bike for months without his training wheels, he no longer wants to simply ride up and down the street. He would rather ride up into the yards, on the rocks, and over the curbs. He is even “trick” riding by putting his feet on the middle bar of the bike or holding on with one hand. If he keeps this up we are going to have a ramp in the middle of the street and he will be trying to do flips!! AAHH!!!
Unfortunately, because the kids had to end up going home earlier then expected the only other thing we were really able to do was take them to the Fremont Street Experience. We had dinner and were able to see two of the light shows, which Ty and Chayse loved!
Thanks for coming out Kayla and Ryan. We loved seeing you and the kids really enjoyed the time they had with you!

Mark and I went out last night to celebrate Valentine’s Day and my birthday (which is the 19th, man I’m getting old!!). Anyway, he usually combines the two since they are so close together and that’s fine with me because he usually does something really good. This year was no exception. He completely blew me away and got tickets for us to go and see Phantom at The Venetian! It was amazing!! I was excited to go and see the show, but was not sure what I was going to think. I had never seen Phantom of the Opera or the movie, but I did know the basic “story” of them. I have never been to see an opera before and was nervous that I wasn’t going to be able to follow the story line. But I have to say I totally got what was going on and found myself literally on the edge of my seat for most of the show. It was one of the best nights out we have had in a very long time!

February 2, 2008 at 6:25 pm (House, Mark)
Mark and I have been in our house now for just over two years. The house was a resale and was already one year old when we bought it. It came with the worse carpet ever; I mean how can you have a house with light tan carpet when you have two kids and a dog?! Mark told me that we would replace it someday……now, someday to Mark is never if he can get away with it or until I nag him enough that he finally gives in. Well fokes he has given in!! Yeah. We are talking about getting new flooring sometime this summer. Since my husband is such a planner, especially when it comes to the cost, we have already started to look at different options. We have narrowed it down to four at this point…..laminate, engineered wood, bamboo, or tile. We both love the look of wood floors, but in Vegas you just can’t us “real” wood. All the floors under the carpet are concrete and most of the time tension concrete, so whatever you put down has to be glued or a “floating” floor. If we go with tile we would want to fine some that looks like wood and has no grout lines…..I hate grout. Well, having done some looking today, I am leaning towards bamboo. I really LOVE how it looks, but am concerned that it may not look good with the cabinets in the kitchen. So, my thought on dealing with that issue…..stain the cabinets! Mark actually listened! AND, we even talked about replacing the kitchen island with a bigger one since there is room. Ok, what I want to know is “What happened to my husband?” Can he really be considering doing ALL these changes? Now, don’t get me wrong, if he is really ok with doing all this to the house I am all for it! I love the layout of my house and I love the neighborhood, but would also love to put my own touches into the house. So, for now, we will continue to discuss “options” and we’ll just see how it progresses from there. But, I keeping my fingers crossed that I get what I want!!
